Welcome to a selection of tales from the merry month of March. 19th March 2001:Oh dear Sick Lil Kitten! - According to UK tabloid The News of the World (yeah right!) Lil collapsed backstage as the girl were about to go on at an MTV event in Dublin. Lil doesn't seem to have been well of late so as I always do on such occasions, I'd like to wish her well and a swift recovery. After all where would I be if it weren't for her? She is of course the original inspiration behind the Shrine (Although I totally fancy Natasha these days!!!) and a top lass by all accounts. I can see her knickers! - Meanwhile in other news Jenny has joined both Kerry and Lil in having appeared wearing rather less than usual in the UK tabloids. Kerry of course famously revealed her topless model past, Lil revealed her swimwear on holiday with Tommy, and now Jenny's modelling past has resurfaced with pics of her, in what tabloid hacks like to describe as "racy/sexy lingerie". This just leaves the babe of the group (in all senses of the word), Natasha to have her underwear snaps exposed. Somehow it seems unlikely that Natasha has any such stuff tucked away in her past, but I'm sure a few of her more enamoured fans can dream. 15th March 2001: Is this feeling An Eternal Flame?- The news from the press (Musicweek so my sources tell me) is that the Kittens will follow up the huge success of Whole Again (now at no. 3 in UK charts) with a cover of the Bangles classic Eternal Flame. For those of you too young to remember it's a monster of a power ballad from the late 1980's. 4th March 2001: It wasn't me! honest!!! - So the four week reign at the top is brought to an end by the return of Shaggy, with his ode to cheating "It wasn't me". But not bad really as they still only slipped to number 2, staying ahead of big double releases from another of my favourite bands, The Manic Street Preachers, and also hotly-tipped Canadian star Nelly Furtado's first single. So that thing about pop being dead? Don't believe the hype or what's written in the press! Oh and the marmite thing from last week? OK they beat the Manics, but no album eating yet. |
